The Process Breakdown

I was brought onto this project by a producer/friend, Zach Hausman who is working as a producer for this show. I was brought up to speed on the concept by reviewing the internal table read of the actual show. It was quite funny at times, so I was surprised when the direction they wanted to head towards for the promo material was leaning more towards a gritty horror aesthetic, but I could see the value in going for something creepy/horror related.

Working alongside the one of the co-creators of the show Jacob Ryan Smith, Producer Madison Thompson, Zach and his intern Stephanie Herrera. We began scouting locations, casting, and assembling the storyboards/pre-vis.

A big aspect of the promo was teasing the characters/themes/ideas of the show without making it seem like it was a casting announcement. It was very important for people to not misconstrue this promo as a casting announcement, which is why we went with silhouetting our characters. Only revealing certain features like the red nails on the mic/the clothes the girl and man are wearing. A lot of character revealing was done in the production design done by Cooper Shapiro, working in things like the items on the desk and the beautiful velvety red murder trophy wall in the "Podcast studio" ​​​
